Who the adjustable cone suits
A good fit when
After surgery a cat goes straight for the stitches. This cone keeps the mouth away from the wound without weighing the cat down: the shell is thin PVC and the edge is lined with flannel, so it does not rub the neck.
The strap fastens with hook and loop, so you set the size to the neck and not to the nearest snap. Small fits a 5.6 to 6.8 inch neck, medium 7.6 to 9.0 inches, large 9.6 to 10.6 inches. It wipes clean and stores flat.
Know before you buy
- Most cats need a day or two to accept a cone. Some will not eat with it on: take it off for meals and watch them.
- It is sized for cats and small dogs. It will not fit a medium or large dog.
- Measure the neck first. A cone that is too loose comes off.

Our poor kitty was dealing with skin irritation, so I had to keep her from licking it. She's a sly child, and a tiny thing, so I was surprised when the size I ordered fit her nicely! Firm enough not to fall off, loose enough not to choke her. She was a sad kitty lamp for a while, but she is doing better!

The cone stays on pretty well, but the Velcro is extremely thick, which makes it challenging to close and also makes the cone very heavy on that one side. It’s also such a narrow cone that there was no way she could eat or drink. I may do with it until I could get a wider one. The one good thing about it being narrow is that she could sleep with it on.
