Guide
How Do You Measure a Pet for a Recovery Cone?
Measure the neck where a collar sits and match it to the range printed for each size.

Where do you measure for a cone?
Round the neck, where a collar sits, with a soft tape or a piece of string and a ruler. The small Adjustable Recovery Cone starts at a 5.6-inch neck.
Measure a calm animal. A pet that pulls away gives you a number an inch too big.
| Product | Size | Neck |
|---|---|---|
| Adjustable Recovery Cone for Cats | Small | Neck 5.6 to 6.8 in |
| Adjustable Recovery Cone for Cats | Medium | Neck 7.6 to 9.0 in |
| Adjustable Recovery Cone for Cats | Large | Neck 9.6 to 10.6 in |
| Snap-Closure Recovery Cone | Size | M, neck 5.7 to 8.0 in |
What if the neck falls between two sizes?
Take the larger size and close it tighter. The adjustable cone fastens anywhere along its strap. The Snap-Closure Recovery Cone adjusts in 3 steps, so for an in-between neck the strap fits better.
You should be able to slide two fingers between the cone and the neck. Tighter rubs. Looser comes off.

Can a pet eat with a cone on?
Many can, and some refuse. If yours cannot reach the bowl after 1 or 2 tries, raise the bowl or use a flat plate. If that fails, take the cone off for the meal and stay with your pet until it goes back on.
This guide covers sizing and is not veterinary advice. After surgery or an injury, follow your vet's instructions on how long the cone stays on.
