Recovery cones: measure the neck
Wrap a soft tape round the neck where a collar sits. Take the size whose range holds that number. Near the top of a range, go up one size.

Lift slings: weigh the dog, then measure between the legs
Weight puts you in a size. The gap between the front and back legs confirms it: the pad has to sit in front of the rear legs without reaching the front ones.

Litter boxes: floor space and the cat's weight
Measure the corner where the box will stand, then check the weight line. A covered box suits cats up to 16 lb. The open XL box suits cats under 18 lb.
