Is a Stainless Steel Litter Box Worth It?

A steel pan resists claws and rinses clean. It also weighs more than a simple pan.

What does a stainless steel pan change?

The surface. Steel resists claws and rust, so the pan of the Enclosed Stainless Steel Litter Box stays smooth and rinses clean. The box measures 22.8 x 15 inches.

It does not replace scooping. A steel pan with old litter smells like any other.

How big should a litter box be?

Big enough for the cat to turn round. Our covered boxes are about 23 x 15 inches inside the footprint and suit cats up to 16 lb. The open XL box suits cats under 18 lb.

Measure the corner first. A box that blocks a door gets moved, and a moved box upsets a cat.

Covered or open?

Covered if the box stands in a living space, open if your cat avoids lids. Our covered boxes run 3 ways: closed, door open, or front off, so a nervous cat can start with the open setup.

A top exit keeps the most litter in. It needs a cat that is willing to jump.

What does a steel litter box cost you?

Weight, and a higher price than a simple pan. Our covered boxes weigh 6.6 to 9.9 lb, and the range starts at $39.99. If you scoop daily and your pan still rinses clean, the one you own may be enough.
